Yes, men are encouraged to join Zonta clubs. Zonta International recognizes that gender equality is not a women’s issue, but a human rights issue. In 2017, Zonta International announced support for UN Women’s HeForShe campaign. The global campaign aims to mobilize 1 billion men to accelerate the achievement of gender equality. Through innovative online, offline and mobile phone technology, HeForShe identifies and activates men and boys in every city, community and village around the world. 

In order for a club to begin (charter), an existing Zonta club or district must sponsor and organize it. The new club needs at least 15 members to charter, or special permission may be requested from the International President to charter with 10 or more members. The existing organizing club or district will be responsible for completing an authorization request form found on My Zonta and should appoint an organizing committee dedicated to the chartering process. Once Zonta International Headquarters has authorized the new club, they will send an informational email to the organizing committee chairman with the next steps needed to charter. The completion of the chartering process will also require payment of dues and fees for any new members. Zonta clubs are encouraged to sponsor a Z and/or Golden Z Club with their local schools and universities. More information can be found under My Zonta. Students interested in starting a new Z and/or Golden Z Club should contact their local Zonta club.
